How To Dress For Your Pregnancy Body Type

Pregnancy Fashion

Just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your personal style. With so many maternity options out there now, this is something to flatter your new body shape, whether you are small or big all over or are carrying high or low. So, if you are feeling less than inspirational about your clothing choices, this is the perfect guide to show you how best to dress and feel fabulous during your pregnancy.

Big all over

For some people, their baby weight is distributed all over their body. Just know that you are not alone, if you are swelling everywhere from your face to the rest of your limbs. So whether you are tall, plus-sized or just bigger than normal, don’t be afraid to try on clothes during your pregnancy. Wearing soft clothing with longer lines will help to make you feel great as well as accentuating your bump.

One great outfit idea is matching a soft knit dress with a hemline hitting the knees, with a long sweater that nearly matches the length of your dress to keep the shape looking long and lean.

Leggings are a must have for all pregnant women. They will give you maximum comfort as your belly continues to grow. Try teaming them with a flowing tunic top to keep your look fresh and fabulous.

Carrying Low

If you are carrying your bundle of joy low, you will have a cute belly just above your hips. Wearing clothes that sit below the bump can be really cute, are soft on your waistline and accentuate your new shape.

Try wearing joggers instead of sweatpants, they have an elasticated waistband as well as a tapered leg which looks more put together. Team with a loose tee and some super glam sandals to top of the fabulous bump accentuating outfit.

Alternatively, a jumpsuit is a perfect outfit for comfort as well as for style. The roominess at the mid-section is perfect if you are carrying your baby low.

Carrying High

If you are carrying your baby up high, use belts, ties and block colours to separate your bump from your bust.

Try wearing high waisted skirts paired with a tight tank top and a complimentary cardigan to emphasise your bump. Try to veer away from black, instead play with greys, blues and patterns to spice up your look. Wearing different colour top to your skirt will help to separate your bump from your bust.

Another good look, is a maxi dress. Find one which clinches your waist just above the bump to accentuate the bump and keep you looking and feeling cool. Team with a denim jacket for a more casual look, or pair with some embellished sandals for a more dressed up look.

Small all over

A small all over figure, allows you to have fun with your maternity look. Don’t be afraid to take some fashionable risk, experiment with skinny jeans, graphic patterns and more.

A form fitting dress will emphasise your bump and leave you feeling, and looking fabulous. Dare to be bold and wear different patterns and colours. Alternatively, try wearing skinny jeans and a slouchy sweater with some comfortable sneakers for a more casual look.

Whatever your pregnancy figure type, you can still look and feel fabulous! So go on, try it yourself!
